What Is Causing The Pain In The Right Lower Side Abdomen?

I am 34, 125 pounds. I have had pain in the right lower side of my abdomine on and off since september of last year. Sometimes it hurts several times a day and other days not at all. For awhile I thought it might have gone away, but came back always in the same spot. I went in 3 times to doctor, had a ultrasound back in october, and also had a ct scan, but all i was told was that they came back normal, with no answers from doctors or follow ups, so i quit going into the doctor for many months hoping that it will go away, but it hasn't. Do you have any idea of what this could be, it drives me crazy and scares me as it hasn't went away. What is the next route I should take if those scans came up normal. There has to be something not right, I don't know how bad it is, but it is not right. What should I do, and what things could cause this? Can a person pay for a mri on thier own?

General Surgeon 's  Response
HI.
As the ultrasonography and CT scan are normal , this means the diseases which can be picked by these investigations are not present. They are not full-proof investigations.
After reading your history , I would suggest you to go for Diagnostic Laparoscopy and get the procedure done. Most probably it is appendicitis in a form that is not detected by CT or ultrasonography.
MRI is not useful in abdomen.
