What Is Causing Foul Odor In Urine?

I have always had to empty my bladder quite frequently but lately there is a foul odor. I am 59 have not been sexually active in 3 years about a month ago I did start a new medication for anti depressant also i have been leaking a little if I cough or move sudden

Hello dear
Understand your concern.
Cause of foul smelling in urine are below:
1. Urinary tract infection
2. Bladder infection
3. Dehydration
4. Diabetes
5. Fistula between intestine and bladder.

YOu should consult the urologist and do the following test:
Urine routinE, culture and microscopy
Blood : CBC, ESR , blood sugars, PSA
Cystoscopy
Pelvic examination, prostte work up.

Doctor may provide following treatment:
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Eat fruits like papaya, orange and pomegranate
3. Tablet cefuroxime 400 mg two times a day for 5 days
4. Do not delay in empty the bladder.
5. Anticholinergic tablet: oxybutynine may be helpful
6. Tamsulosin tablet
7. If not resolved by medicine: surgey for bladder.
8. Behavior therapy: avoid stress, pelvic floor exercise, double voiding technique
