What Is Causing Delay In Period And Abdominal Pain When Pregnancy Test Negative?

Hi, I am having lower abdomen pain when I bear down. It bothers me on both sides, slightly more on the right. My period is now 12 days late, I have taken 3 negative pregnancy tests each were taken with first morning urine. I m a little worried about ectopic pregnancy. I don t know anything about it. Just wondering what could be going on, my period is never this late. Thank you!

Hi,
In the current scenario, since you have had repeatedly negative pregnancy tests, I would suggest a trans-vaginal sonogram, which will get you the status of the pelvic organs and also help to rule out any ectopic pregnancy. Sometimes, temporary hormone disturbances can delay a period in the absence of pregnancy. Urinary and other infections, sudden weight changes, stress, certain medications are the usual causes. Please see a specialist for a proper evaluation and further management. Take care.
