What Is An Optimal Blood Sugar Level?

What is a good blood sugar level for someone who is 40 and weighs 120? I had a friend check it for me and it was 58. I don't know if this is good or not. Sometimes when I feel sluggish or out of energy I eat something salty like chips and get some of it back. I dont use sugar in a lot of things just sometimes in my coffee also for energy when I want to wake up faster.

Hello there,
Your blood sugar level is slightly on the lower side. When blood sugars are lower than 70 its called hypoglycemia when you may have symptoms like giddiness, sweating, anxiety, palpitations, extreme hunger etc. However I would like to know if you are a diabetic on medication or not a diabetic? Normally blood sugars are maintained in a strict range of 70-120 approximately by the body's mechanisms. Why did you get such low sugars without being on any medicine is concerning. If you are eating alright and still if sugars are going so low you need to evaluated further to find if you have any insulinoma. So please visit an endocrinologist who can evaluate you further if you get such low sugars or symptoms of low sugars frequently.
Till then split your meals into small meals every 2-3 hours so that you do not experience such low sugars as it can be harmful. Try to carry a sugar candy in your pocket at all times and an ID and address card with you.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
