What Is An Alternative To Tegratol For Epilepsy?

Hello, My daughter has been recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and was prescribed Tegratol. It makes her very tired and sometimes lethargic. She has also developed other side effects. Is there another drug that would be better and cause less drowsiness?

hello there, thanks for consulting with HCM. There are other drugs available like gabapentin and phenobarbital, but personally u have to consult your neurologist for any change in the medicines....As with all antiepileptic drugs, it is always advisable to take folate, vit D and calcium supplements as these drugs can interfere with the metabolism. plz consult neurologist for any change f drugs... hope it helps...
