Hello! Thank you for asking on Healthcaremagic! I understand your concern and would explain that high platelet number could be related to chronic inflammation. The sepsis could lead to high platelet count. From the other hand as he has fever, it is not the proper time to change his anti-epilepsy drugs, as this could trigger seizures in this clinical situation. I don't think that Keppra is related to high platelet number or sepsis. An infection could be the cause of his clinical situation. Coming to this point, I would recommend first treat the infection and the fever. After the fever is gone, you may discuss on the possible changes to his therapy. In this regard, Lamotrigine or Valproate would be a good treatment option. Hope you will find this answer helpful! Kind regards, Dr. Aida
