What Is A Shadow On The Gum As Shown In X Ray Suggestive Of?
i had an xray done and there was a shadow on my gum. The dentist asked if there had been any trauma or accident, to which i replied no. He said it looked like some type of inflammation but did not require medicines. What are some of the reasons for the shadow? Does it mean i will need a root canal? Thank you.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a shadow in the gum area of the tooth that has been apparent in an x ray can be due to causes like deep gum infection leading to bone loss while can also be due to infection in tooth that has reached below the root tips of the tooth causing infection and abscess or cyst formation...
The treatment that has to be given cannot be decided without proper evaluation and you need to consult an Endodontist or a Periodontist and get evaluated and after a proper examination of the x ray only the diagnosis can be made and treatment can be decided accordingly..
But no medication or treatment is needed is not appropriate advise..
You can also send me a scan of your x ray by asking a question by going to my profile on Healthcare Magic so that I can guide you better and appropriately that how can you proceed towards treatment..
Hope this helps..
