Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Vaginal Bleeding Post Menopause Indicate?
I am 58 years old and post menopausal by at least 2 or 3 years. When I went to the bathroom this afternoon to urinate, I noticed there was blood (not a few dots) in my underwear as if I was having my period. Two weeks ago I went to the doctor with the same problem. They did a urinalysis and said I had a UTI. I had no symptoms of a UTI (which I have had several times after I got married 30 years ago and know what a UTI feels like). So I asked about the blood which came from my vagina and the Doctor said it was probably absorbed into the vagina. Please advise.
Hi I think you should consult a gynecologist for complete examination. Get a pelvic examination done by a gynecologist to rule out any cervical pathology or infections. Get a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries and endometrial thickness. If endometrial thickness is more than 4mm, you may need an endometrial biopsy to rule out any endometrial pathology. Hope it helps.
