What Does Total Thyroxine Levels In The Below Thyroid Test Report Suggest?

I was diagnosed as high TSH-10, on Feb 25. From then on i was on Thyroxine tablet - half for about 10 days and then 1 tab till today. I did my Thyroid tests today. the report says i have total triiodothyronine(T3)-105, total thyroxine(T4)-7.9 and TSH - 0.23. What does this means? Should i stop taking thyroxine or reduce the intake to half tab a day. i am planning for pregnancy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Ma'am,
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
You have been taking larger dose of thyroxine tablet.
The usual starting dose of thyroxine is 1.7 mcg/kg/day. Then the dose is individualized on the basis of clinical response & thyroid function tests after every 4-6 weeks. Regular monitoring of these tests is recommended when starting therapy or changing the dose.
While taking thyroxine tablet, its dose should be adjusted in such a way that the TSH level should be in the range of 0.3-5 mIU/mL. Since your TSH level is below the normal range which indicates that you are taking slightly larger dose of thyroxine.
Since you are planning for pregnancy, so do not stop taking thyroxine.
Hence, you must consult your treating physician to reduce the dose of thyroxine and to repeat the thyroid function tests after 4 weeks to check its response.
Hope this will help you.
