Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Abnormally
thickened endometrium on imaging may occur due to a number of reasons. It can be categorised based on whether or not they are related to
pregnancy.
Pregnancy related causes include:
1. Early pregnancy, prior to sac being visualized (2. Ectopic pregnancy
3. Retained products of conception
4. Intra-uterine blood clot
5. Molar pregnancy, which has thickened endometrium with multiple small cystic spaces
6. Endometritis
Non-pregnancy related causes include:
1. Endometrial carcinoma
2.
Endometrial hyperplasia due to PCOS
3. ndometrial polyp
4. Tamoxifen-related endometrial changes
5. Endometritis
6. Presence of adhesions
7. Ovarian tumours associated with endometrial thickening
Since these differential diagnosis needs to be ruled out, you have been referred to Gynecologist for further clinical evaluation. You may require
endometrial biopsy investigation done to know precisely what could be the cause for it. Accordingly, appropriate treatment could be instituted.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
