Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, my daughter has been referred to a Nephrologist as her scan has showed moderate pelvicalyceal dilation with some soft tissue foci which could reflect material within the calyces. can you please explain this and what she has to see a specialist for and what is the likely outcome/treatment
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. The ultrasound report of your daughter says that a part of her kidney has been enlarged due to presence of some lesion within. She needs to be further investigated as the ultrasound scan has not specified what the lesion could be. Hence, she might require a CT scan and/or Ultrasound guided renal biopsy investigations to diagnose what it could be and then proper treatment could be instituted. At this stage, it is difficult to say what would be the outcome of this as there is no clear picture about the cause. Kindly consult Nephrologist for further evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
