Hello dr report for my 65 yEar old mother says this...This is what report says. Uterus measures 9x4x6mm.Endometrium measures 7mm in double layer thickness . Mildly abnormally thickened for a post menopausal . Further imagining evaluation of endometrium with saline infusion sonohystergram. Both ovaries are not visualized.Otherwise no adnexal masses identified. Otherwise, normal pelvic sonogram .What could this mean
Hello and welcome to HCM, The endometrial thickness of 7 mm is more than what is expected in a 65 year old woman. Has your mother achieved menopause? Is there associated bleeding or spotting? Inn case there is bleeding after achieving menopause, you need to consult your gynaecologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations (endometrial biopsy / curreting). This investigation will determine the status of endometrial glands and stroma. In case there is proliferation of the endometrium, appropriate management needs to be done. There is suspicion of hyperplasia, proliferation and atypical change in the endometrium.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
