What Does This Report Signify: Bilateral Left Apical Pleural Thickening?
Hi, I am 40 years old. I have done the regular health check up. My chest x-ray shows Bilateral left apical pleural thickening. The lungs are clear and PFT is normal. I have doing this check up for the last few years. This impression was not highlighted in any of the past chest x-rays. Can you please advice me?
Bilateral apical pleural thickening may be due to many causes like sequel of past infection,Tuberculosis etc. It doesn't require any treatment unless pulmonary functions are compromised.Surgical removal is required in very few cases. Rest of the findings are within normal limit.
