What Does This Pathology Report Indicate?

I am a 64 y/o, Caucasian male.... I am looking at a pathology report, which says that The right kidney demonstrates a lobulated contour and measures 11.9 x 6.7 x 5.8 cm. The right kidney demonstrates a prominent column of Bertin or isoechoic nodule in the interpolar portion, which was not measured. The left kidney measures 11.7 x 6.0 x 5.3 cm and demonstrates a lower pole exophytic cyst measuring 2 cm and an upper pole cyst with internal echoes or nodule measuring 1.9 cm. My question is, How serious are these findings and what treatment should I anticipate?

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!
I can understand your concern.
The findings described in your query are highly suggestive of a kidney disease with multiple cysts known as Adult polycystic kidney disease (AKPD). Is there any history of your family member having had similar problem????

Early in the course of the disease, the most important complications are bleeding from the cysts into the kidneys and high blood pressure. If untreated, hypertension may cause further damage to kidneys and thus hasten the progression of pre-existing kidney disease.

Effective treatment is available for these complications and good control of hypertension is essential to slow the progression of kidney disease.

People with ADPKD lead normal and active lives until they have lost around 90% of kidney function. It may also be associated with the cysts in the liver, abnormal dilated blood vessels in the brain, etc
Kindly consult your physician for proper examination to check your BP and repeat ultrasound to detect the presence of cysts in the liver, and other relevant investigations.

I hope I have clarified the query.
Regards!
