Hello and welcome to HCM,
The CBC report shows that your hemoglobin level is low at 5 gm % (Normal Hb should be above 12 gm %.
The
white blood cell count is low at 2400 (Normal is 4000-10,000 per cubic millimeter).
The
platelet count is also low at 81,ooo per cubic millimeter (Normal is 1.5-4.5 lakh per cubic millimeter).
Thus, all three blood parameters ie. Hemoglobin, total leukocyte count and platelet count is below normal range.
This suggests pancytopenia.
Pancytopenia is due to bone marrow depression or destruction of blood cells in peripheral blood.
The former condition is more common.
The causes of bone marrow depression are bone marrow hypoplasia, bone marrow replacement by malignant cells (primary or secondary), depression of bone marrow by chemical mediators released by certain infections like
tuberculosis,
leishmaniasis, fungal infections.
Your bone marrow has shown absence of any malignancy, thus this possibility is ruled out.
Clinical correlation and follow up investigations on bloConsult
hematologist for further work up.
Thanks and take care
Dr Shailja P Wahald and bone marrow are required.
