What Does This Blood Sugar Reading Of 265 Indicate?

Hi. I am a type 2 diabetic. I forgot to test before dinner, so just did now. Earlier this afternoon, I was stung by bees....10 to be exact! 6 on top of my head, 1 on my arm, my foot, my neck and the tip of my nose. I didn t even think to test at the time. Now, I have had dinner and a couple of cookies, but it has been at least 1 hours since my last cookie. I just tested 10 mins. ago and it was 265. Is this to be expected after being stung so many times...even though it has been at least 8 hours?

Hi
Welcome to HCM
After a bee sting there is degranulation of mast cells and allergic reaction occurs locally. As 10 bees sting is considerably a large number so you can expect a anaphylactic like reaction at a localized scale and triggering release of stress hormones like glucagon which counter act the effect of the fixed insulin dose. And glaucagon increases the blood sugar level , body needs more insulin to combat.
Thats the reason for your derranged sugar level after sting. There is nothing to be worried about and continue your diabetic medication as usual.

Hope it helps you
