What Does This X-ray Report Indicate?

Hello excellent doctors, My mother is currently on the 2nd month of taking TB medications but her pulmonologist advised her stop medication and started prescribing antibiotics and wast old to have the fluid drained immediately after this xray results: Homogeneous opacification of the right hemithorax, sparing the right lung apex, obscuring the right costophrenic sulcus, right hemidiaphragm and right heart border precluding adequate assessment o the heart size. Impression: Right Sided Hydrothorax. What does it mean?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Hydrothorax is collection of fluid in pleural space.
There are two pleural layers surrounding lungs. Normally there is 10-15 ml fluid in pleural space. When this fluid exceeds, it is known as pleural effusion (Hydrothorax).
According to chest x ray description, she is having massive Hydrothorax.
She needs to drain out this fluid and start treatment based on fluid reports.
She may need higher antibiotics or anti tubercular drugs based on reports.
In my opinion, fluid drainage should be done.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
