What Does This Pap Smear Report Indicate?

Hai mam,got a pap smear done because of spotting and back pain.t he study shows superficial cells,intermediate cells clusters of endocervical cells in a background of neutrophils.no parasites seen. Impression..inflammatory smear .is this any problem mam?

Hi,
You need not have to stress about the words "inflammatory smear". The inflammatory smear indicates no particular pathology and just states that ther his some kind of inflammation. The inflammation can be due to infections, trauma (minor ones like coitus), tampon use, irregular bleeding or anything.
I would recommend you to visit your gynaecologist to investigate further into the cause. You might have to repeat the pap smear after few months once the underlying cause is treated.
