Hello Doctor, my father aged about 56 years today went for CT scan Brain (plain) and the impression is : CT IMAGE MORPHOLOGY IS IN FAVOUR OF CALCIFIED GRANULOMA IN LEFT POSTERIOR PARIETAL CORTEX.
<May I know, how it was formed in the brain and in normal terms what is the exact problem that was identified in the CT scan? Please help
A granuloma is a healed calcium deposition in the brain which might have been a focus of infection like dog tape worm or TB in the remote past over years. This can be due to ingestion of infected food and is seen in many people. If he is having seizures then this could be a reason. If there is no seizure then there is no need to worry. If at all he may need to take treatment only for seizures. Sometimes these can disappear over years.
