What Does This BP Value Indicate?
My blood pressure was 171/74 about an hour ago. I am on medicine for high blood pressure. This was taken before I took my medicine. I felt sort of a pounding or funny feeling in my chest. Maybe irregular heartbeat. I just want to know what it means when the top number is high like that.

This much pressure going to your kidneys, brain, lungs, liver and all there, is devastating and damages the microvasculature in kidneys,eyes,brain and other important organs of the body. Body is designed to manage small fraction of fluctuations of blood pressure, not this much and that's too if goes continuous.
Consult your physician for complete evaluation and change of medications or dosage only, if needed any.
