What Does These Thyroid Test Results Indicate?

hello, I am 23 yr old women. Recently I tested my thyroid levels and test shows that Triiodothyrnine (T3)(CLIA) = 1.29ng/dl, Thyroxine (T4) CLIA)=7.78ug/dl and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)(CLIA)=3.87ulU/ml. I wanted to know whether these levels are normal. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
This is a condition known as secondary hyperthyroidism.
You should see an endocrinologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM.
The normal range values of Free Thyroxine (FT4) is 0.7-1.9 ng/dl, Free Triiodothyronine (FT3) 0.23-0.619 ng/d, Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is 0.5 - 4.0 mIU/L.
Your TSH plasma level is within the normal range, while T3 and T4 plasma levels are twice to five-folds higher than normal.
This is a condition known as secondary hyperthyroidism, characterized by high fT4 with normal or increased TSH, instead of high fT4 with low TSH as occurs in primary hyperthyroidism (with thyroid gland origin). Secondary hyperthyroidism may occur due to TSH- pituitary adenoma, thyroid hormone resistance syndrome, etc.
Even though this laboratory finding should be integrated with your clinical symptoms and your medical history. You may need to have some imaging diagnostic exams such as a thyroid ultrasound exam and a head MRI also.
You should see an endocrinologist, to guide you into the diagnostic process and later follow- up and treatment .

Hope this is helpful.
