General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear . Your mom has a condition called adenomyosis. It is a condition mostly seen in middle aged women, where the inner lining of the uterus called endometrium breaks through the uterine wall and invades the muscle layer of uterus. This results in irregular periods and painful periods. Main treatment includes pain killers and hormonal therapy where hormonal tablets and injections will be given. If it is not subsiding, then a surgery called uterine ablation where, through a transl vaginal probe the adenomyosis tissue is burnt and removed. Kindly consult the gynaecologist. Hope I have answered your question. Feel free to contact in case of any queries.
