What Does The Red And White Blood Cells In My Test Indicate?

I received lab results which showed that my absolute lymphocytes were 4483 cells/uL. Both my red and white cell counts were very elevated. My doctor could not elaborate on this. Could you give me a little insight into this? Other abnormal tests were: total and indirect bilirubin, carbon dioxide, testosterone, dhea, progesterone. All were high, except the carbon dioxide and progesterone (both extremely low). Thanks for your time.

Hi, I M Dr. Kumarbhargav
Consultant Pathologist
Thanks for the question,
It seems you have mild absolute lymphocytosis,
Just wanted to have your complete blood count with all differentials and indices.
You also had Billirubin increased you have not mentioned how much?
Now regarding absolute lymphocytosis,

If i would have been your treating clinician i would have advised you complete blood count with differentials and have your peripheral blood smear examined so that we exactly know whether your lymphocytes are activated typically of viral infection which is common cause (like any virus common flue or might be Hepatitis that would be with increased billirubin, and also any abnormality with lymphocytes like atypia would be excluded.

So i would advise you to proceed systematically and let us know your exact investigative profile so that we could help further.

Thanks for contacting health care magic.
Take care.
