What Does The Following Ultrasound Report Suggest?
Hi , im isabel from philippines . I would like to ask what my ultrasound result means : * the uterus is retroverted with regular contour and homogeneous myometrium * there are no myometrial masses seem *cervix is closed and homogeneous *endometrium is hyperechoic with intact endomyometrial junction *the right ovary is lateral to the uterus .within the right ovary is a thick walled unilocular cystic structure with medium level echoes suggestive of an endometriotic cysts the left ovary is cystically enlarged as measured unilocular thick walled with medium levrl echoes suggestive of an endometriotic cysts :( thank yiu
Retroverted uterus ; this is the orientation entation of the uterus to the upright body axis when standing. A uterus can be placed leaning forward(anteflexed) , upright(normoflexed) or leaning backwards(retroflexed). All these positions are normal. Your uterus us rertoflexed and that is normal. Other features are normal. Ultrabsound uses echo to take pictures. So echo is the picture. The pictures taken were normal however there are some fluid filled sacs with the ovaries that are noted. Generally fluid filled sacs are called cysts . Cysts are generally harmless and do not warrant treatment unless they present with symptoms, however you need to see a pathologist who will perform a ultra sound guided biopsy to tell you if the cysts are harmless. Thank you and welcome.
