What Does The Following Chest X Ray When On Treatment For Pneumonia Indicate?
I ve been diagnosed with pneumonia. I have a healthy history...never smoked or was around second hand smoke. My chest x-rays came back indicating that I do indeed have pneumonia and that it is resolving. I was on z-pak for 5 days...now on prednisone and albuterol. I don t understand what the radiologist said about my x-ray. He said: Slight faint increased markings in the left lung base may represent eithea residual from prior infiltrate versus early infiltrate in the left lower lobe. Can you explain this better to me?

Its not necessary for you to smoke to acquire pneumonia.
Its also caused due to inhaling of few bacteria , fungi etc.
The most common organism responsible for pneumonia is streptococcus pneumonia.
The radiologist meant that you have infection that is left over from a previous infection or a new infection that is starting over.
