these are the findings of CT scan of PNS divated nasal septum is noted towards left side. soft tissue mucosal thickening seen in bilateral ethmoidomaxillary and left sphenoid sinuses. underlying bones appear to be normal with patent OM unit-sinusitis. what does it implies ?
Hello, The deviated septum means that the tissue in the middle of the nose is deviated to the left. This makes flow of air and fluids through the left nostril more constricted and can predispose you to infections of the sinuses. Ethmoid, maxillary and sphenoid are sinuses that condition air as it flows from the outside, through the nose and into the lungs. The mucosal thickening means that these sinuses are inflamed and probably infected. This is a complicated CT report but it basically means that you have a deviated septum and a sinus infection.
