I am a 44 yr old female, approx. 5' and 153 lbs. I recently had a ct scan and an mri done due to dizziness and the results said something about nonacute nonspecific microvascular changes with vasculitis and some findings of a demylination process. Can you please explain what this is? My dr. is sending me to a neurologist, but it takes time to get in to see one.
Hi, Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic. These changes occur due to aging. Microvasculat changes are small microvascular infarcts which don't cause any harm to you and does not affect your lifestyle at all. Demyelination causes symptoms and will give you problems. Demyelination is a differential for microvascular changes and should be assessed clinically. That is the reason you are being sent to a neurologist. If you are having only dizziness, it is probably microvascular change and you will not ahve any problem but if you are having some cognitive problems, memory problems then you might have demyelination. For demyelinaton, you need to do follow up regularly and take some medications. Demyelination is a chronic disease so won't cause any acute problems. I advise you to go and meet the neurologist whenever you get an appointment. Till then, I feel there is nothing to worry. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery.
