What Does The Blood Sugar Reading Indicate?

My blood sugars run 105. My A1C average 5.5.
I take Metforman sometimes.... I get off some how and have bloating at bedtime. I eat lots of vegs, almonds, complex carbs. I don't get the bloating issue. Then it will go away for months. I will often take Beno if too bad.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Firstly, you do NOT have diabetes !! Both : Blood sugar reading as well as, A1C are NORMAL.

Further, METFORMIN is NOT required at all. Weight reduction to BMI of less than 25, along with strict dietary restriction will be MORE THAN ADEQUATE.

SO,

1. Reduce your body weight to desirable BMI, by regular physical exercises (jogging, cycling, gym, aerobic exercises DAILY for at least 45 minutes).

2. Take a LOW Calorie (1200-1500 Calories), LOW fat, HIGH Protein diet. AVOID fast foods, pizzas, junk foods, aerated drinks, soft drinks, alcohol, butter, mutton, beef, pork and their products; confectionaries.

Dietary regulation with regular exercises and weight reduction (if overweight) will keep you healthy and fit and also keep your blood sugar to within acceptable range.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
