What Does The MRI Report Regarding Neck Pain Indicate?
Hi,
Need your help i have upper neck pain and pulls my left nerve and it pinches badly and when i work around doing house hold stuff my finger tips tingles. when i did MRI here is the report can u guide if it can be cured with exercise i went through Phy-Theraphy that didnt help much. At C4-C5 level there is a focal moderate sized right paracentral disc herniation with enroachment upon the right neuroforamen and exiting right C5 nerve sleeves. There is a mild stenosis but no cord impingement, my symptoms are in left please guide.
There are 7 small bones in the neck part of spine with spongy discs between them. These discs should be aligned in a normal fashion to allow various movements in the spine and also provide cushioning. In your upper neck the discs at levels C 4 - C 5 is displaced backwards and this might be due to trauma or early degeneration. As the C 5 nerve roots pass in between vertebrae C 4 and C 5 hence it is under pressure and the symptoms you are having are due to C 5 nerve root compression.
Treatment is conservative by medications in the beginning and includes pain killers which work on nerve related pain. You may try doing physiotherapy and avoid lifting heavy weights. This problem will not heal completely but if you take precautions, the progress of the problem will be slow and you will still be able to continue with your daily activities without much troubles.
If there is severe pain then there are minimally invasive surgeries to remove the herniated disc and make you pain free.
