What Does Swelling In Hands And Legs Have To Do IV Therapy?

I was in the hospital in early Sept. with IV therapy and my left hand and fingers have
been swollen ever since. I also had the hand xrayed twice with no definite diagnoses. My family
Dr. said it was due to the IV. How long should it take for the swelling to go away?

Dear Friend
IV therapy can lead to swelling and redness at the site of cannulation known as thrombophlebitis , but it subsides in a few days.
Since your swelling is persisting , I would like to know details of it like where is it exactly , redness , pain if associated.
Give me complete details.
If possible attach a photograph.
Good Luck
