What Does Shadow In Chest X-ray Mean?

I am a healthy64 year old active woman who has never smoked. I have been very active, and with a routine chest xray the radiol;ogist has said that he sees a shadow and would like a ct scan to determine whether it is a tumor or not. I have no other symptoms.. And no cancer in my family. I am concerned. I am waiting for a call for an appointment.

Shadow in the chest x ray in old age people should always be investigated even if they arw non smoker and not having any symptoms. There are many causative factor for lung cancer besides smoking and family history. And CT scan will give you complete idea about the size, shape, margins, , association with surrounding structures etc. All this things can not be seen perfectly on chest x ray. So you should definately go for CT thorax.
