What Does "At The C6/C7 There Is A Broad Based Disc" Mean?

What does mean. At the C6/C7 there is a broad based disc/osteophyte complex with some anterior indentation upon the duralumin sac and core.There is hypertrophy of the uncoverterbal joints bilaterally, particularly on the left,with some degree of narrowing of the left neural foramen.Do I have to undergo surgeries .

Thanks for writing in.

There is degeneration of cervical spine disc between C 6 and C 7. This is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level more on the left side. There is also hypertrophy of the small facet joints on either sides of the vertebrae. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable. Surgery is indicated only if when the pain is severe showing no response to medications taken for few months.
