What Does " Mild Patchy Microvascular Ischemic Change" Mean?

I just had CT scan done recently.
I have been having sinus related issues with pain in my left eye.
The scan was normal, however, in the report it says, mild patchy microvascular ischemic change.
Can you please explain.
I am 55 years old, 5 ft. 5 inches tall and about 162 lbs.
thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

The words "mild patchy microvascular ischemic change" apply to certain areas of brain where there is deficient blood supply through small vessels rendering the tissues ischemic and dysfunctional. This is a slow process and is seen in diabetics, hypertensives or in advanced aging. At 55 years, it might be a bit early for you to have these changes and a complete neurological clinical examination is suggested. At the advise of your doctor, medications might be need to be taken with regular follow ups.
