What Does Presence Of Pathy Hypodensities In Frontal Paraventricular White Matter Mean?

My father-in-law gone thru CT Scan of his brain as he got fainted two times. Findings: There are patchy hypodensities in left frontal paraventricular white matter. Remaining brain parenchyma of both cerebral hemispheres show no significant abnormality. Sylvian fissures, cortical sulci, both lateral & third ventricles are mildly dilated. interventricular septum is in the middle. Rest other findings are normal. So what should we interpret? Is it a serious matter? How it can be cured?

Hello

Patchy hypodensities in periventricular white matter in frontal lobe may be due to many reasons like infarct, gliosis etc.

So,your father-in-law need monitoring of conditions that leads to ischemic changes like hypertension, altered lipid profile, diabetes mellitus so that further progression of disease can be halted.
He need investigations like routine hemogram,RBS,LFT,RFT,Lipid profile, ultrasound of abdomen.
Treatment depend upon findings.

Other findings are normal. However he need proper neurological evaluation.

Get well soon.
Take Care
