What Does My MRI Test Results Indicate?

I had hysterectomy over 6 weeks ago now. went to ER 2 weeks post op with severe right flank pain. blood in urine and white cell count off. MRI down and ultrasound. found no kidney stones, even though 2 of my daughters do get them and they don t always show up, i could have passed it. Lots of pain meds to get pain under control. and was sent home after 12 hrs. was given Cipro. I still have pain in my right flank here and there. enough to bother me alot. I only have one kidney and it is on my right side as well. kidney function has been tested and is fine as well. do you think it is still post op pain?

Hello there, thanks for posting your query.
Flank pain that almost makes you toss in the bed and blood in urine point towards a renal stone. Not all stones show up and you could very well have passed it. It doesn't seem to me that your hysterectomy has got anything to do with it. As considerable time has elapsed after surgery and flank pain doesn't relate to pain originating from pelvic organs, I m almost certain that it is not due to the surgery. It is very important that you maintain adequate hydration to prevent renal stones and your aim should be water intake as to keep your urine colourless. Do see a urologist who can assess if you are predisposed to certain kinds of renal stones and advice appropriate steps to prevent its recurrence.
Hope this helped. Good luck!
