What Does Mildly Prominent Cardiac Silhouette In An Infant Mean?
I took my 6 week old to the er on Saturday and they did a chest x-ray on him and the results are saying cardiothymic silhouette is slightly prominent. What does that mean for a 6 week old? Also they say lung volume appears mildly diminished. What does that also mean for a 6 week old. By the way he was 4 weeks early.

Regarding your child x-ray displaying a cardiothymic silhouette I am suggesting that you child has a disease condition called congenital thymic hyperplasia
Following your child diminished lung size I strongly believe he has a mild lung collapse possibly from deficiency in the surfactant level
In regards to the above conditions please let him see a paediatric cardiologist and a pulmonologist for expert clinical assessment and possible invasive surgical procedures as well as drug prescription
