What Does Mild Chest Pain In Patients With Hypertension Suggest?

I have hypertension and am under medication. On the last Saturday, I checked my blood pressure which was 160/90 (my age is 60+). From today afternoon, I feel some kind of very light sweet pain on the left side of my chest. Could you pl explain why?

Chest pain has a long list of causes. A good doctor narrow down that list to a great extent with the help of patient history and examination. The most common causes of chest pain are,
1. heart burn, GERD or acid reflux.
2. Simple Muscular pain.
3. Some heart problem.
4. Lung or mediastinal diseases etc.
In an over-aged, and hypertensive patient, if chest pain occurs i would definitely do an ECG, chest X-ray and Echocardiography to rule out any heart and major lung pathology. If heart is normal then one can relax that the vital organ is normal and say that don't worry it could be a minor and easily treat-able think or just a muscle ache.
But for your age and with this co-morbidity, i would definitely want to rule out any heart pathology.
