What Does Left Pelviectasis Shown In Nuclear Renal Scan With Lasix Mean?

my 11 year old son had a nuclear renal scan with lasix done and results came back saying he has left pelviectasis. they have ordered a VCUG but not for another 3 weeks and then a follow up with urologist 3 weeks after that. What is this diagnosis and what is the treatment? Is it ok to wait so long for foloow up?

I need to know the reason why he had the initial tests - unless you tell me that, I cannot suggest if waiting for 3-6 weeks will be all right or not. Pelviectasis is nothing but a slight enlargement of the collecting system of the kidney (the portion inside the kidney that collects the urine from where it is formed in the other part of the kidney known as the renal parenchyma). It implies the presence of some obstruction to the channel beyond the pelvis of the kidney. This can be a structural block like a narrowed ureter, or a spasm of the ureter muscle either along its length or where it meets the bladder at the lower end.
