What Does Discoloration On The Legs Indicate?

I have a friend who is a 67 year old male. He is obese. 290 lbs at 5 9 . His legs are showing signs of discoloration and the hair on his legs is falling out. The discoloration is not purple / blue. It is a ruddy looking brown color. This is also on his right arm. Any Ideas ?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since he is obese following are the possible causes for his discoloration in legs and arm.
1. Cellulitis - infection and inflammation of skin.
2. Diabetic changes of skin.
3. Hypercholesterolemia related skin changes.
So better to consult doctor and get done ultrasound examination of of legs, sugar levels and lipid profile to rule out above mentioned causes.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your friend. Thanks.
