What Does Discoloration And Growth At Skin Graft Site Indicate?

I have a 7 year old skin graft on my front thigh. About a month ago a small area ( size of a pea) appeared at the perimeter. In a few weeks it has grown to the size of a coat button? It looks dry and red and doesn t hurt. I have had skin cancer removed from my shoulder twice now could it be that it looks similar? However my doner site was from my buttock !

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Well an elaborate evaluation will be required, but the appearance of the lump around a skin graft is common and only requires excision. Speak to your surgeon and get it excised, send the tissue sample to the laboratory for analysis and confirmation of the cause.

Best wishes
