What Does Dark Green Stool During Pregnancy Indicate?
In the last couple of weeks my stool is dark green, I am 4 months pregnant? Is this safe
Also, I am 1.68cm tall and currently My weight is 62.3kg and I am 16 weeks pregnant as I mentioned? Do you think I should be weighing less than what I am now. My normal weight prior to falling pregnant is/ was 58kg
Thanks for the query. Your first query was regarding having dark green colored stools. I would like to know if you are having loose stools or too frequent stools and fever. If these are present it indicates an infection. If none of the above are present, check to see if you have been eating too much of green veggies or were constipated for a few days before the dark stools. These are all common causes of dark stools. I suggest that you take some probiotics and modify your diet for a few days [take clear soups and gruel] and check for the stool. If the problem persists, get a stool examination done.
Regarding your weight: You have gained 4.3 kg in the first 16 weeks. This is just fine. The total expected weight gain during pregnancy is 12 kilos and most of the increase occurs in the later half of pregnancy. So you are just doing very well.
Hope I was able to help you. I would be happy to answer any further queries. Have a nice day and enjoy your pregnancy. Dr. Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
