What Does Cold Sensation In The Feet Indicate?

My 86 year old mother believes she has been undergoing gradual poisoning by a family member. She has complained that she cannot get her feet warmed even with an electric heating blanket. Is there any particular metal that could cause this? Any suggestions for her to get a home-test? I have seen some available online, and wonder if one is better than the rest?
