What Does Brown Vaginal Bleeding Indicate?

Hello,For the past week or so I've been having brown relatively light bleeding. I'm a bit concerned and unsure what it is.I'm on birth control Evelyn and have almost been taking it for three months. A little over two weeks ago I skipped my period by continuing to use the active pills. But the past week I've been bleeding dark brown blood (much lighter than my period). I haven't had really any cramping or anything (cramped once very lightly) and don't seem to have any other symptoms or abnormalities to my usual life.I really can't afford to be pregnant but I'm worried that I am.Does it sound like I am?Or is it just breakthrough bleeding?Cheers,Kara

Hello dear,my name is dr,Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
Brown vaginal discharge may happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina.
Old blood looks brown or spotting blood/brown discharge may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle.
Other causes can be:
-perimenopause
-late period
-Birth control
-Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
If it continue you should see a gynecologist for more information.
