What Does Blood Pressure Of 135/80 And 150/82 Indicate?

Hi I'm 44 years old and measure my blood pressure regularly at home, averages about 135/80, but can get up to 150/82 at rest. I'm fit, weigh 74kgs, and have a resting heart rate of usually 50-60. I go to gym, run and have a busy/physical job. I drink alcohol on regular basis, and don't smoke. Am I considered to have hypertension?
Thanks

Hello there,
Thank you for the question. Hypertension by definition has been persistent elevation of Blood pressure (BP) above 140 systolic (upper level) and 90 diastolic (lower level). In your case it seems to occasionally go higher than 140/90 which is quite normal. Keep track of your BP and if you find it persistently elevated only then it is diagnosed as hypertension. Continue your efforts at a healthy lifestyle, it will keep you healthier in the long run. Try to be moderate with salt intake if you think BP is rising gradually.
Hope this answers your question.
Take care.
