Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter (24 years old) just noticed a little red blood in her stool and a little bit in her urine. She stopped taking birth control pills cause they were making her chest feel funny . She began taking them again and that is when she noticed traces of blood. We made an appointment witn dr. for Monday. Could she be having a reaction to the lapse in taking the birth control pills - then taking them again - how long will it wash out of her body . I m thinking she has a reaction to taking the birth control pills.
Hello and welcome to HCM. Birth control pills do not directly cause blood in stools or blood in urine. But is possible that spotting can occur while on birth control pills (may be misinterpreted as blood in urine in your case). Also pregnancy needs to be ruled out by doing urine pregnancy test. Still if the episodes of frank blood in urine or in stools continue, physical examination and tests like USG, stool analysis or urine analysis should be done considering other associated symptoms like abdominal pain. Thanks and regards.
Thanks and regards.
