What Does Blood In Stool Indicate?

Hi for the past few days I ve noticed bloody mucus in my stool. Its not a lot sometimes only when I m wiping after going I notice. I have no other symptoms like pain or constipation or diaherrea I m just getting a little concerned, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your query in HCM. I am Dr.Aliem, and I am pleased to answer your query.

Passage of blood along with mucous indicates that you have 'dysentery', which is most of the times caused by infections. Most common one is amoebiasis.

Please visit your General Physician, who may order a stool test for you. This usually settles with a course of anti-amoebic medications.

If the problem persists despite properly-dosed medications, you may have to undergo a colonoscopy test to rule out other causes, like inflammatory bowel disease.

Take only hygienically prepared/stored foods and drinks.
