What Does Blood And Mucous Formation In Mouth Indicate?

When I woke up there was blood in my mouth and a chunk of mucous like tissue in my mouth that was so dark red it almost look black. It was sticky and goey but did not break apart. Where is it from. I have not been coughing or vomiting recently either.

thanks for your query. the blood mixed mucous could be secondary to any cut or break in the mucosa causing bledding or it can be bleeding from the gums secondary to gum infection. it can also be because of bleeding disorders like thrombocytopenic purpura. consult your oral physician to rule out all these conditions and get your blood investigations including BT, CT, INR. After finding the cause we can treat accordingly like cleaning the teeth or applying sutures or pressure if there is cut over the mucosa. i hope my answer will help you. take care.
