What Does Anterior Osteophytosis At Multiple Levels Of Racic Spine Mean?

Hi, I had an MRI done recently and I am reading the results and trying to figure out the extent of what is wrong with my middle back. I have had a very bad paid in my thoracic spine for over two years now, and the pain radiates from the middle of my back around my left side and into the left front, just under my ribs. My pain Dr. Is very rude to me, I am currently only on 5 MG methadone for Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, enchondroma of my right hip, arthritis of both knees, and I am in constant pain every single day. The things that were seen on my MRI of my Thoracic spine were as follows: Degenerative disc desiccation is noted at multiple levels of the thoracic spine. There is mild anterior osteophytosis at multiple levels of the mid and the lower thoracic spine. Degenerative disc narrowing is shown at multiple levels of the upper and midthoracic spine, more pronounced at T7-T8. There is mild to moderate posterior disco-osteophytosis at T7-T8 with mild to moderate anterior indentation of the thecal sac. Minimal posterior disco-osteophytosis is shown at the lower thoracic spine. There is no spinal stenosis. **** I have no idea what these terms mean in laymans terms, but I have literally felt like my organs are dieing inside of my body on the left side for awhile now and my chiropractor believes it is a pinched nerve but my pain dr. Doesn t believe in chiropractic care and is a very nasty dr to me! He told me that if I haven t had to have surgery on anything yet, then my pain isn t bad enough to warrant increasing my pain med, even though I take them as prescribed, I do urine samples any time they ask, and I always pass them, as well as pill counts any time they ask as well! I am only 36 years old and living not only with the diagnosis I just gave you above, but I take hormone cream because my hormones without it are non-existent. I m also on thyroid medicine. I just want to be normal, whatever that is! But could you please explain the severity of what s going on in my back and how I should approach my dr about my pain med. Because I really need it increased a little bit, not alot, I don t need him to max me out, just at least make my pain more bareable on a daily basis. Thank you! Lisa

Hello

Report suggests degenerative disc disease of thoracic spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.

1.There are anterior osteophytes at multiple level in thoracic vertebra, more pronounced at T7-T8 level.Osteophytes are small bony protrusions and it is formed due to chronic stress on annulus fibrosis.

2.There is mild to moderate posterior disco-osteophytosis(complex structure of prolapsed disc and osteophytes) at T7-T8 level with mild to moderate anterior indentation of the thecal sac.

There is no spinal canal stenosis.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first.
Surgery should be the last option.

You are getting right medicines.

Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.

Get well soon.
