What Does An Elongated Bulge From The Sternum To The Navel Indicate?

12 years ago I had open heart surgery and have not had any problems since but what I ve recently noticed is that I ve developed an elongated bulge that runs from the sternum toward the belly button. I don t have any symptoms of pain or discomfort. What I have noticed is that bulge occurs only when I assume a sit-up position and lay flat on the surface. It does protrude upward quite noticeable. Any ideas as to what is happening?
