What Does A Yellow And Scaly Rash Between The Nose And Lips Indicate?

My daughter has had a crusty yellow rash under her nose just above her upper lip for about a week . she has been in contact with not only myself but many others and NOONE else has gotten it making me to believe the rash is not contagious. we have been putting silver sulfidine , a&d ointment and a triple antibiotic ointment and it has reduced the redness and has nearly healed it. she has complained about it being itchy and she does scratch at it. online searches for a similar rash lead me to one called bullous impetigo but it says that it is infectous but like i stated before no one else she has been around has gotten a similar rash.

I can understand your concern. As the rash is itchy and non contagious, it seems that your daughter is suffering from an allergic reaction to the allergen that she might not be aware about. An insect bite while sleeping can also cause such reaction.

I would advise you to start antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5-7 days. If it would be an allergic reaction, it will subside by any of these medicines.

However, if there is no improvement after the 5-7 days of antihistamine, I would suggest you to visit a dermatologist for the clinical examination of the rash and further investigations.
